Racing Manufacturer Cuts Costs by 10% with TRIM® MicroSol® 692XT
The racing division of an internationally recognized automotive manufacturer creates high-performance parts ranging from wheels to superchargers to engines. Their race cars compete in NASCAR, Formula Drift, and other world-famous events.
THE CHALLENGE
The manufacturer conducts numerous milling and turning operations on 5-axis machines to create auto parts and components, working primarily with aluminum, and cast and ductile irons. Very few cutting fluids are strong and versatile enough to work with both aluminum and cast iron.

Their previous coolant created machining problems due to high volumes of foam, driving up fluid costs, maintenance, and anti-foaming additive usage. Odor was also a frequent problem, even with proper coolant management and bacteria control.
THE SOLUTION
The customer converted a handful of its machines to TRIM® MicroSol® 692XT, a premium semisynthetic microemulsion cutting fluid with high lubricity, unparalleled biostability, and extended sump life. The groundbreaking formula controls foam better than traditional lower-quality microemulsions, is multimetal compatible, and has an excellent sump life.

MicroSol 692XT is specially designed for high performance mixed metal operations, compatible with cast iron and aluminum, as well as titanium, steels, high nickel alloys, and a wide array of workpieces.
THE RESULTS
Immediately after transitioning to MicroSol 692XT, the customer noticed an exceptional reduction in foam with less frequent top-offs and lower makeup concentrations needed to maintain optimal coolant concentration.

Over the 45-day trial period, this reduced coolant consumption by 30%. Even better, the new TRIM fluid didn’t just last longer — it also extended tool life, resulting in even more savings. With MicroSol 692XT’s extended sump life capability, the customer has virtually eliminated foul odors from their workshop too.

To date, the customer has seen about 10% in total cost savings, which is expected to rise in the coming year. Since the trial period ended, the customer converted all remaining sumps to MicroSol 692XT. Master Fluid Solutions sales and service team will also install a Hydroblend proportioning mixer and other coolant management systems for additional savings.
THE NUMBERS
  • Reduced coolant consumption by 30%
  • Saved 10% in total operating costs
  • Eliminated odor and foam issues in the facility
