Vietnamese Manufacturer Reduces Coolant Consumption by 30% with CoolPAK™ S4782
The customer is a Vietnam-based manufacturer that produces a wide array of mechanical products, plastic molds, and industrial equipment. Originally established in 2005, the company has grown into a 4,000-square-meter factory that primarily services international customers expanding into the Southeast Asian market.
THE CHALLENGE
After optimizing nearly every aspect of their operation, the customer realized their current cutting fluid was causing significant budgetary, productivity, and safety issues at their factory. Their previous solution required an unusually high 12% to 15% concentration in the sump to perform optimally. In addition, it produced a high level of foam, unpleasant odor and air quality, and several skin issues for operators. The fluid also easily mixed with high amounts of tramp oil, further contributing to bacteria growth, poor sump life, and high makeup rate, as well as rust on some equipment. The customer needed to find a solution that was easier to maintain and more cost-effective.
THE SOLUTION
The customer decided to upgrade to CoolPAK™ S4782, a premium semisynthetic especially designed for high-speed cutting and grinding operations. With built-in corrosion protection and high mechanical lubricity, the fluid is exceptional at maintaining long sump life and resisting tramp oil.
THE RESULTS
CoolPAK S4782 performs optimally at just 8% concentration in the sump, significantly reducing consumption compared to the previous coolant. With less need for daily top-up as well, the customer quickly reduced fluid consumption by 30%, while also improving tool life.

A much more robust formula than their previous cutting fluid, CoolPAK produced less foam, resulting in less fluid waste, cleaner machines, and fewer instances of operator skin irritation. The team at Master Fluid Solutions¨ also provided more hands-on support in educating workers about fluid maintenance practices, how to manage the concentration, and how to improve operations for higher throughput and more cost savings.
THE NUMBERS
  • Cut coolant consumption by 30%
  • Achieved better performance with 33-47% lower concentration
  • Eliminated foam, odors, rust, and dermal issues
