Automotive Parts Manufacturer Increases Productivity by 9% with TRIM® E709
The customer is a leading automotive precision parts manufacturer that provides complete end-to-end solutions from process design to engineering, manufacturing, and even supply. Based in India, the company provides valuable parts and assemblies to automakers throughout the region with a growing international presence. They have a well-established reputation that attracts customers from across the globe.
THE CHALLENGE
Using a common, inexpensive, general-purpose cutting fluid for their drilling and tapping operations, the customer faced significant part quality issues. Their previous solution failed to provide enough cooling and lubricity during deep hole drilling, allowing line marks and other imperfections on hole surfaces. This resulted in a high rate of customer rejects which threatened their reputation.

Some of these problems occurred as a result of stability issues with their current cutting fluid causing separation and inconsistent concentration levels. Bacteria also grew in the sump over weekends, with workers operating in an unpleasant shop environment. These coolant problems resulted in a poor sump life, increased waste, fluid spend, and machine downtime. The coolant had to be completely replaced in the sump every three to four months.
THE SOLUTION
The customer switched to TRIM® E709, an advanced soluble oil prized for its universal compatibility with nearly every type of machining operation. Offering a stable formula with high levels of lubricity and cooling for automotive materials and applications, E709 ensures incredibly stable and predictable performance, especially in drilling, grinding, and tapping jobs.
THE RESULTS
Immediately after switching to E709, the company consistently met their customers' quality requirements without any additional rework, dramatically reducing the number of rejections. Productivity also increased to an average of 120 parts per day, compared to 110 with the previous cutting fluid. E709's high-quality formula also proved more resistant to bacteria formation and separation, eliminating odor and maintaining a consistent concentration, ensuring a long sump life.
THE NUMBERS
  • Dramatically improved part finish quality, reducing customer rejects
  • Eliminated bacteria formation, improving sump life and work environment
  • Increased productivity by 9% from an average of 110 parts per day to 120
  • Eliminated coolant separation and inconsistency
